Rev. William Nelson Bland, Jr. is a native and lifelong resident of Petersburg, Virginia. He is the son of the late Deacon William N. Bland, Sr. and Olivia Hailes Bland, both Licensed Funeral Directors. Rev. Bland is a product of the Petersburg Public School System where he graduated from Peabody High School in 1969. He obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Virginia State College (now Virginia State University) in 1973, an Associate Degree in Applied Science from the School of Mortuary Science in 1974 and a Master of Divinity from the School of Theology Virginia Union University in 1982.

Rev. Bland is the former Pastor of First Baptist Church, Waverly, Virginia where he and his family served faithfully for 12 years (1984-1996) and Pastor Emeritus of Metropolitan Baptist Church, Petersburg, Virginia.

Rev. Bland's religious, civic, social, fraternal and professional affiliations are many, to name a few: the Baptist Minister's Conference of Petersburg and Vicinity, the Petersburg Area Clergy Association, the Chaplaincy Program at Southside Regional Medical Center, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity,Epsilon Nu Delta Mortuary Fraternity, Pi Sigma Eta Mortuary Fraternity, Sheba Lodge #17 of Free and Accepted Masons PHA, and the Local, State and National Funeral Director's Association. Rev. Bland was a former member of the Board of Director's Petersburg, Dinwiddie Crime Solvers, Inc., Adjunct Professor at John Tyler Community College for the School of Mortuary Science and lectures for the Crater District Police Academy based at Richard Bland College, Petersburg, Virginia.
Reverend Bland also holds membership in the Southside Funeral Directors Association, the Virginia Mortician's Association and the National Funeral Directors and Embalmers Association.
Reverend Bland recieved his "Doctor of Ministry" Accreditation after having been thoroughly examined,and found to meet or exceed the professional standards of academic excellence, is committed to continuous improvement and growth, and is hereby awarded this status of commendable achievement in the church and community, from the Living Water Bible Institute on June 21, 2008

He was married to the former, Doris Yvette Bouldin of Chesterfield. He loss his beloved wife on January 17, 2013. Rev. Bland is the father of three children, Velita Harris, William Nelson Bland, III (Trip) and Nickia (Nikki) Bland-Johnson (Victor Lamonte', Sr.). He is the proud grandfather of five grandchildren, Nasia Queen Olivia Johnson,Victor Lamonte' Johnson, Jr., Asia Harris, Nia Simone Johnson and Vaden Nelson Johnson. He currently lives with his daughter and her family in Chester, VA.

In May of 2012, Reverend Bland suffered a massive stroke which left him disabled, but Rev. Bland has not given up and still knows that we serve a God that heals. He is forever grateful to all who have prayed, donated money and visited him.

Reverend Bland's trusted motto has always been "The Best is Yet to Come" and he trusts God each and every day to provide all of his needs. No Weapon formed against me shall prosper!

Mrs. Nickia Bland Johnson is the granddaughter of our founders, the late Deacon William N. Bland, Sr. and Olivia H. Bland. She is the daughter of Rev. William N. Bland, Jr. and the late Doris B. Bland.

Nickia is a 1996 graduate of Matoaca High School and received her Bachelor’s in Business Management from Hampton University in 2000. 

Nickia has worked with her family in the business since her teenage years. Over the years she has learned firsthand the importance of servicing families with honor, integrity and dignity. She is committed to not only continuing the legacy, but enhancing the funeral service experience for all of the families that are served in the community. Like her father Rev. Bland always says, “The best is yet to come!”

In the community, Nickia is a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church. She is also a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

She is married to Victor L. Johnson and together they are the proud parents of four beautiful children, Nasia, Victor, Jr., Nia and Vaden.

Dr. Robyn A. Clark is the Chief Financial Officer at Bland Funeral Homes, where Dr. Clark provides leadership, direction and management of the finance and accounting team, including managing the process for financial forecasting and overseeing budgets.  

Dr. Robyn A. Clark graduated from Hampton University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Accounting, from Virginia State University with a Master’s of Science in Career and Technical Education with an emphasis in Business, and from Liberty University with an Education Doctoral Degree in Educational Leadership.  Dr. Clark has returned to school to receive a second Master’s of Science in Accounting which she will graduate in December 2020.  Dr. Clark has worked as an Accountant Clerk at Virginia State University Federal Credit Union and a Financial Education Manager at Henrico Federal Credit Union where she was instrumental in running the student branches of the credit union in several Henrico County Public Schools.  An Accounting legacy, Dr. Clark has taught business classes that include Business Management, Business Law, Entrepreneurship, Business Principles, Computer Applications and Accounting, in the Henrico County Public School system since 2007.  She is currently also employed with Bryant and Stratton College as an Adjunct Accounting Professor, where she teaches various Accounting classes.

Dr. Robyn A. Clark prides herself in being a phenomenal daughter and mother to her only son, Emanuel Conway and looks forward to the birth of her grandson in January 2021.  Robyn is a family oriented person and thrives off of the necessity of forming meaning relationships while living life positively.  Robyn is a member of Union Grove Baptist Church where she is co-chair for the Youth Ministry and has previously held the position of chairperson for the Finance Ministry.  She is also an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.

Mrs. Janice Fraites, our Financial Secretary, has been with us for over 10 years. A native of the Virgin Islands, Mrs. Fraites is married to R. Constatine Fraites and together they are the proud parents of three adult children, Elise, Sharlene and Cornell, and six grandchildren.

Janice specializes in helping our families process their payments and life insurance claims. We are so very blessed to have her as a part of our team!

Mrs. Pamela Parham has been with us for over 15 years. She is a native of Hopewell, VA and a 1975 graduate of Hopewell High School. She is married to Donald Parham and is the proud mother of one son, DeNata Parham.

Mrs. Parham enjoys helping and serving our families and she always does so with a smile. We are blessed to have her as a part of our team as our Office Manager.

Pastor Calvin E. Lewis, Sr. born in South Mills, NC attended the College of Albemarle, Elizabeth, NC and Virginia State University, Ettrick, VA. He is a graduate of the Institute of Biblical Studies, Liberty University, Lynchburg, VA. Pastor Lewis holds a certificate on Profit Management/Food Management, obtained from the Bonanza School of Profit Management, Dallas, TX. He has also attended Richmond Virginia Seminary and Virginia Union University School of Theology.

He has preached the gospel throughout the state of Virginia and North Carolina. He was licensed to preach on December 18, 1994 at Providence Baptist Church, Prince George, by Dr. Marvin Warren. Pastor Lewis was ordained, July 18, 1998. He presently pastors Plank Road Baptist Church, Waverly and Yielding Zion Baptist Church, Burkesville, VA.

Pastor Lewis is a member of the National Baptist Association, Hampton and Petersburg’s Minister’s Conferences, Soul Winners Conference and the NAACP.

He was been employed at William N. Bland & Son Funeral Home for over 10 years.

Pastor Lewis is married to the former Carolyn E. Bonner and the father of two sons, Franklin and Calvin E. Lewis, Jr. and the proud grandfather of a goddaughter, Jawanna Townes.

Rev. Robert L. Barnes was born in Union Springs, Alabama to the late Deacon Willie H. and Jessie Barnes being the third of ten children. He grew up in Detroit, Michigan and later joined the United States Army where he earned the rank of Sgt. Major and many awards and declarations to numerous to mention. After military retirement, he moved to Prince George, VA, where he presently resides. Rev Barnes served on the usher’s board, the president of the Young Men’s Association, and served as vice-chairman of the Deacon Board at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Prince George, VA. He is also a member of the Baptist Minister’s Association, Petersburg, VA, a member of the NAACP and SCLC.

He attended Martin Community College located in North Carolina and Wilson State University in Wilson, NC. He also obtained a degree in Sociology from Saint Leo University in Saint Augustine, FL. Additionally he graduated from Virginia Union University School of Theology under the Evans Smith Leadership Program in Richmond, VA. He served as a volunteer chaplain, a member of the Board of Ethics and a member of the teenage pregnancy board at Hopewell’s Medical Center, Hopewell, VA.

He is the proud father of two daughters, Vickie and Robbie and the grandfather of three granddaughters, Viktoria, Erica and Necole. MOST OF ALL, HE IS A CHILD OF GOD.

Alexis Clark is a native of Petersburg, VA. She is the mother of one son, Jaykhari. Alexis was educated in Petersburg Public Schools, a Class of 2000 Honor Graduate of PHS. She furthered her education at Richard Bland College obtaining her Associate in Science in 2005, and more recently obtaining her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Saint Leo University in 2019. She has plans on furthering her education and venturing into the mortuary field.


Alexis attends Good Shepherd Baptist Church in Petersburg and loves the Lord and singing. She has a heart for serving and loves being able to assist people in their time of need. She also has a contagious sense of humor and has never met a stranger.
