Richard O. Ermert Sr.

The following Obituary was published in the Clay County Courier, August 7, 2008 edition.

Richard O. Ermert, Sr., Corning, was born in Datto, Dec. 16, 1921, son of Francis Marion and Cora Wilson Ermert.

He died in The Meadows Health and Rehab in Corning, Wed. July 30, 2008. He was 86.

A retired funeral home director and the owner and operator of Ermert Funeral Home, he was a member of Corning First Baptist Church. A veteran of World War II, he was a 32nd Degree Mason, charter member of Family Medical Center, past school board member, past board member of Memorial Ins. Co. and licensed funeral director and embalmer for over 60 years.

Nov. 3, 1950 he married the former Alice Jean Thompson and she survives. Other survivors are two sons, Rick (Rhonda) Ermert, Corning, Clyde (Patty) Ermert, Eureka Springs; three daughters Fran (Rodney) Holder, Bellevue, NE, Barbara (George) Patterson, Sunrise Beach, MO, Lana Massanelli, Little Rock; one sister Freda Vester, Jerome, ID: 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Carl and Clyde ERMERT and sister Letha WILSON.

Funeral services were Saturday Aug. 2, 2008 in Ermert Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chris Dixon and Rev. Don Settles officiating. Burial in Corning Cemetery.
