Wayne Lewis Hendrick went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, December 16,2019.
Wayne was born in Hamlet, North Carolina on August 3, 1950 to the late A.L. and Pauline Hendrick.
After graduating from Hamlet Senior High School in 1968 , he married his high school sweetheart and worked for his father’s company where he learned the art of carpentry. Wayne later surrendered to the Lord’s calling on his life and moved to Jacksonville to attend Luther Rice Seminary and become a Minister of Music and ultimately an ordained Minister. He devoted his life to the Lord, his family and friends, and his church where he was Chairman of the the Deacons, served as a teacher in the Singles Department, and worked with the television ministry. Wayne shared the love of Jesus with everyone he met and spread God’s word everywhere he went. He was an amazing husband, father, grandaddy, friend, and teacher and was adored by all who knew him. Wayne also loved fishing, hunting, playing golf and pranking his family and friends at any given opportunity. His legacy of touching lives and inspiring love and laughter will live on forever in the hearts of all those who loved him.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 49 years, Carolyn (Stewart) Hendrick, two daughters, Heather Hendrick Birtalan and Lynsey Hendrick, four granddaughters, Megan, Caroline, Hannah, and Vivian, his sister Anne, and brothers Tommy, Larry, and Mike.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, December 21st at North Jacksonville Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 1:00pm to 2:00 pm prior to the service.
The family asks that any donations in lieu of flowers be made to The Heart Center at Baptist Hospital and The Transplant Program at Mayo Clinic Jacksonville.
