SMITH, Mrs. Virginia "Jenny"-age 81, of Flint, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2019 at Hospice House of Shiawassee County. Funeral services will be 11:00am Tuesday, June 25, 2019 with a 10:30am family hour at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 1083 E. Stewart Ave., Flint, MI 48505. Pastor Christopher Taylor officiating. Calling hours are 1:00pm-7:00pm Monday, June 24, 2019 at Sheldon T. Banks Funeral Chapel, 3021 S. Dort Hwy., Flint, MI 48507. The final resting place for Mrs. Smith will be River Rest Cemetery, Flint, MI.
Mrs. Virginia Lee "Jenny" Smith was born in Huttig, Arkansas, the daughter of Annie Marshall and LaBrom Marshall. She was a long time resident of Flint and attended Flint Public School System, Virginia worked for the Flint Board of Education for more than 40 years at Williams and Merrill Schools. She was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Pryor and Pastor Randolph for many years. She was also an active member of GCAA and G-Card for many years as well. Her hobbies included fishing and cooking but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Mrs. Virginia Lee "Jenny" Smith leaves to cherish her memory: 4 sons, Delano Smith, Darryll Smith, Dennis Smith all of Flint, MI and Dominic (Nee Dee) Smith of South Carolina; grandchildren, Donnell Robinson, Edward Robinson, Clarence Smith, Delano Smith, Olivia Smith, Anthony Smith, Tara Bates-Robinson, Amara Taylor, Shaquico Lawson, Shaneka Tisdale; numerous grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; God-daughter, Mary Knuckles and family; daughter-in-law, Norma Jean Robinson of NC; sister-in-law, Candace James of Haynesville, AL; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Francine Jones, Jerome Threlkeld and the Murphy and Palmer families.
Mrs. Virginia Lee "Jenny" Smith was preceded in death by: son, Donnell Smith; brother, Hildreth "Bubba" Marshall; mother, Annie Marshall Jones and father, LaBrom Marshall; mother-in-law, Annie Cottrell; father-in-law, James Cottrell.
