Thomas “Tommy” Emmitt Rinehart, Jr. passed away on the morning of September 17, 2018 in Shreveport, Louisiana as a result of an automobile accident. He was 61 years old.
Tommy is survived by his daughter, Keeley Lynne Rinehart, New Orleans, LA; Sisters - Catherine Letendre (Chris) of Ruston, LA, Susie Besecker (John) of Wallops Island, VA and Martha Rinehart (James Thamm) of Charlotte, NC. Nephews: John Letendre (Christy) of Ruston, LA., Nick Letendre of Arlington, TX, Matt Letendre of Waco, TX and Mason Fanning of Charlotte, NC. Nieces: Mary Catherine Besecker of Wallops Island, VA, Bridget Fanning and Caroline Fanning of Charlotte, NC; Great Nieces: Morgan Letendre and Madelyn Letendre of Ruston, LA. He is also survived by his Aunt Colleen Yates of Sumter, South Carolina and Aunt Kathy Holland of Eufaula, Alabama, along with numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas Emmitt Rinehart (2001) and Mary Patricia Holland Rinehart (2012).
Tommy was born September 24, 1956 in Dallas, Texas. He was a 1974 graduate of C.E. Byrd High School where he excelled in football. He attended Louisiana Tech University. He loved the outdoors and spending time with friends.
Tommy wished to be cremated and to spend eternity among the seas, so his ashes will be spread in the Gulf of Mexico at a later date. A Celebration of Life for Tommy will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2018 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Fairfield Manor Bed & Breakfast, 2300 Fairfield Avenue, Shreveport, Louisiana.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff, nurses and assistants of the Highland Place Nursing Home. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the cause of your choice.
