Richard "Dick" Oliphant passed away peacefully in his home on June 23rd, in his sleep, after being surrounded by loved ones. He was born February 5th, 1931, to parents Elmer Earl Oliphant and Katherine Margaret (Rowe) Oliphant. He is survived by his loving bride of 66 years, Barbara Jean (Myers), three lovely daughters, Michelle (Roger) Knapp, Sherri (Dewey) Rissler, and Mary Oliphant, seven devoted grandchildren, Jennifer (Ryan) Curtis, Melissa (Thomas) Moeller, Tamara (Robert) Greenwood, Brittany Rissler, Bradley (Melanie) Rissler, Wesley (Briana) Wickline, and Samantha (Jacinto "Papi") Zuñiga, and thirteen adoring great-grandchildren, Patrick, Avery, Madelyn, Brandon, Blaine, Elijah, Eliska, Luke, Riley, Dakarai, Chloe, Jovani, and Zane. He is preceded in death by his parents, twin brother Robert Oliphant, and sister Betty Clephane.
Richard graduated from Manual High School and served in the military during the Korean War. In 1954, he married the love of his life and started a family. He was a proud and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Richard loved being a mechanic and owned his own service station for 10 years in Speedway, later retiring from GM in 1996. In retirement, he often assisted his wife with volunteer activities at elementary school #96. With his family, he loved many recreational activities such as camping, boating, hunting, water skiing, and fishing. Traveling to Florida and Gatlinburg, Tennessee with his family, and going out to eat with his family and friends were beloved pastimes of his.
Visitation will be held at Conkle Funeral Home, Speedway, on Wednesday, July 1st, from 11am to 1pm. Memorial service will begin at 1pm. Burial will be at Floral Park Cemetery following the service.
