Ray Riggs, age 79 of Lexington, passed away Monday, September 21, 2020. Amos Ray Riggs was born December 11, 1940 in Dallas, TX, the 3rd of 4 children born to Lloyd Orville Riggs and Margaret Marie (Kemp) Riggs. Ray married his best friend in life Jeanette Marshall on January 4, 1966 in Aurora, CO. They first made their home in Colorado and then for a short time in Texas, before settling near Lexington in 1973. Together they raised their two daughters Julia and Hope.
Ray worked in construction and enjoyed the freedom of being self-employed as owner of Kool Flo Manufacturing. Ray cherished his family and looked forward to big vacations. Whether it was Texoma, Destin Florida, or Port Aransas in the winter, Ray lived for the moment. He enjoyed fishing and loved nature and animals, and at one time nursed an ailing owl back to health. He liked tinkering on things and especially antique cars and boats, which he was known to rebuild them while one the lake. Ray’s proudest moment was becoming a grandfather. One of his greatest joys was considering his grandson Charlie his boy. He would often refer to Charlie as “my boy”. He was a wonderful father and grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be dearly missed!
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Jeanette Riggs; parents, Lloyd and Margaret Riggs; Brother, Richard Riggs and son-in-law, Ronnie Shaw.
Ray is survived by: Daughters, Julia Rae Riggs and partner Cindy Webb of Lexington and Hope Shaw of Lexington; stepson, Alan Gorrel of Ardmore; Sister, Carole Monday of OKC; Brother Bill Riggs and wife LaDaria of Marietta; Grandchildren, Charlie Shaw and Ginny Webb, and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 25, 2020, at Little’s Chapel, Wilson-Little Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Lexington Cemetery. The funeral will be live streamed on our website, www.wilsonlittle.com, or our Facebook page, Wilson Little.
