November 06, 1950 - July 31, 2020
Born November 6, 1950 in Lansing, the son of the Reinhold and MaryLou Janetzke, passed away at his home on Friday, July 31, 2020 after a long battle with Kennedy’s Disease. He was our HERO and a great example of hard work, determination and deep love for his family, his church and his friends.
Randy was baptized as a baby and confirmed at Our Savior Lutheran Church on March 22, 1964 by Pastor Eldor Bickel. He attended Our Savior Lutheran School and graduated from Lansing Public Schools. He earned his Associate Degree in Applied Sciences from Lansing Community College and continued his education, earning his Journeyman’s Card as a Millwright. He was employed by General Motors and retired after 38 years of service. When Randy first started working for GM, he was drafted into the U.S. Army. He served as a clerk and completed nearly 2 years before being Honorably Discharged. He held many jobs in the church, serving as an usher, elder, and volunteer at Youth Haven Ranch. Favorite Bible verses and music gave him comfort on many occasions when his health deteriorated and he needed strength. He had a gift to fix almost anything and would share this talent with many of his family and friends. His hobbies included reading, outdoor activities, and traveling. He got immeasurable joy from his children and grandchildren who loved playing tic-tac-toe and games with him, and supporting his grandchildren by attending their numerous events.
Randy is survived by his wife of 46 ½ years, Sue, 3 children: Kyle (Jenny), Colin (Kyleen) and Kacie (Chris) Walenczak, 5 grandchildren: Bryant, Madison, Paige, Sophie and Sawyer, his mother, MaryLou Janetzke, 3 siblings: Doug (Marguerite), Phillip and Shari (Terry) Roe, 2 sister in laws, Sally (Mark) Beckner, and Tammy Janetzke and numerous loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
