Mike Giska, age 74, passed away in Shreveport, Louisiana on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 surrounded by family after having lost his battle with multiple strokes. Mike was born on August 11, 1944. He graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1962. Mike proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and traveled with a specialty group throughout Europe and the Middle East. After completing his military service, he obtained his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering at Louisiana Tech. While at Louisiana Tech, he met the love of his life. He resided in Wisner alongside his wife of over 45 years, Kitty Giska.
Mike loved his wife, loved his girls and loved their families. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and tinkering with everything! Mike was always the first to find the chocolate and always fashionably late!!
He is preceded in death by his parents, Michael Edward Giska Sr. and Jimmie Lee Giska; as well as his brother Raymond Richard Giska, Sr. and his sister in law Sandra Giska.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Kitty Giska; his daughters Kayla (Kevin) Whatley of Shreveport and Tara (Scott) Rodgers of Shreveport; his sister Kathy Giska of Shreveport. He is also survived by his grandchildren Katherine Whatley, Michael Whatley and Ryan Rodgers.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Whatley, Scott Rodgers, Kevin Currington, Ken Thornhill, Marc McCarty, Myles Kiper, Jon Peoples and Wayne Louque.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to First Baptist Church Wisner in Mike’s honor.
