Mr. Melvin Eugene Tarpley, 72, of Lafe, AR., passed away Sunday, October 14, 2018 at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, AR. Mr. Tarpley was born in Knob, AR., on December 7, 1945. He was retired from the shoe factory and Wal-Mart. He spent his time taking care of his chickens and dogs. He enjoyed playing with family and grandchildren, being outside, and visiting Hardy with family and friends.
He married his wife of 52 years Mrs. Elva Jean (Grubb) Tarpley on September 26, 1966, she survives. Other survivors include his three daughters Bonnie Howe of Paragould, AR., Kandi Tarpley of Lafe, AR., Kelli Nickason of Corning, AR.; three brothers Daniel Tarpley of Saint Louis, MO., Hershel Tarpley of Lafe, AR., Glen Tarpley of Lafe, AR.; one sister Wanda Owens of Paragould, AR.; three grandchildren Jennifer and husband Clinton Buckhanan, Tanya Morley, Maggie Nickason; three great-grandchildren Carson Pollock, Khloe Pollock, Forrest Buckhanan; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas Matthew and Bessie Faye (Lucy) Tarpley.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, October 18, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Rock Springs Methodist Church in Knob, AR., with Bro. Mark Trout officiating. Burial will follow at Ramers Chapel Cemetery in Lafe, AR. Visitation will be held, Wednesday October 17, 2018 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rock Springs United Methodist Church.
