Marguerite Cowling Copeland, 87, passed on Wednesday, January 16, 2019.
Marguerite was born on October 25, 1931 in Mansfield Louisiana as Marguerite Eleanor Cowling to Pete and Fannie Cowling.
She was preceeded in death by her parents, son John Bailey Copeland and her three brothers — Billy Cowling, James Cowling, and Bob Cowling.
She is survived by her children: Marcia Kay Gilbert and husband Mike, Jerry Dean Copeland and Nile Bailey Copeland II.
She worked hard as a secretary and a paralegal to support her children and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her signature form of support and charity shown through her life, was her love of crocheting, crafting and sewing. She loved going to the Houston Quilt Show and while there she met the folks from Project Linus who help seriously ill, traumatized children in need through gifts of new or handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer blanketeers. She immediately pursued her passion and became a volunteer blanketeer to help children in local hospitals.
In lieu of flowers we ask that you continue her kindness and donate to Project Linus at https://www.projectlinus.org/ in any way that you are able to contribute. Also, a sincere thank you the staff at Garden Park Nursing Home in Shreveport, Louisiana where she was a resident.
