U.S. Veteran

Larry Donald Miller, 69, passed away peacefully at his home in Burnsville on Saturday, September 12, 2020 after a year long battle with lung cancer.

Larry was born July 15,1951 to Donald B. and Ella Mae (Bays) Miller in Missoula, Montana.

He attended elementary schools in California, Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota and upon graduation in 1969 from High School in Dell City, Oklahoma he enlisted and served in the Navy as a Hospital Corpsman, Petty Officer 3rd Class, stationed at Marine Corp base in Quantico, Virginia. After his honorable discharge Larry made his home in Bemidji, Minnesota and started college where he met another student and future wife, Sandra Kloehn. They were married on July 20,1974 at her parents home, Stoney Front Farm, Garfield, Minnesota. They enjoyed living in  Minneapolis and then made Burnsville their home, where they proudly  raised their two daughters, Lindsey and Lauren.

Throughout his career, Larry worked as a case manager at a number of non-profit companies, teaching and training adults with disabilities in the South Metro area.  Close to retirement he retooled and worked at ENS in Burnsville as a production lead.

Harkening back to his roots in Montana, Larry was a huge fan of Louis L'Amour, reading and re-reading his many novels. He enjoyed fishing, camping, basketball, watching movies and visiting with family and friends, rarely did a day pass without him working on a crossword puzzle.

Larry was proceeded in death by sister, Patti (Edmund) Miller; mother, Ella Mae Bays; adoptive mother, Mary Anne Miller.

Larry is survived by wife Sandra; daughters Lindsey (Dave) Kuhn; Lauren (Johnny) Nguyen; granddaughters Kirra and Olivia Kuhn and grandson August Nguyen; Father Donald B. Miller and brother Dale (Sheila) Miller; nieces Alyssa (Jason) Phillippi; Lisa (Bernard) Curry;  Aunt Joan (Rex) Stout and cousins.
