Labeche's Obituary

Labeche affectionately called Beche, after ailing for a short period, went on to be with the Lord on June 29, 2019 with his family and special friend – Sonya by his side. Beche was born in Nassau, Bahamas on April 18, 1969 to Dennis and Avis Gibson, and was the third child and only son of this union. Beche grew up learning the virtue of hard work and maximizing his skills and talents. He was extremely gifted with his hands and learned the craft of auto mechanics and technology. His love for technology lead him to obtain a Bachelor of Science Degree from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University and work in the telecommunication industry for years. He later expanded his educational pursuits and obtained a Master of Science Degree from Jacksonville State University.

Beche loved people and family, especially his daughter Peyton. Peyton was the joy of his life, and his “mini me”; when you saw one you saw the other. He was a father who could always be depended on, one to offer sound advice, and guidance. He was a brother who loved his sisters, and knew that he had a special place in their heart, because he was the only brother. He was a son that a mother felt so proud to call her own, and a son who brought joy to his father. In all, he was a true friend to those who valued and cherished him. On a typical day at home he could be found watching soccer, basketball, science fiction movies, and CNN. He was meticulous about the care and upkeep of his yard, and took pride in his homes. He was an impeccable dresser whether casual or formal. Many might not know that he had a fun and playful side that kept one guessing as to what was next.

Beche loved the Lord, and showed that love through countless acts of kindness. In his quiet moments he searched more to understand God, and to always be thankful for God’s mercy. He loved the song “Great is Thy Faithfulness”, and felt that it captured the awesomeness and mercy of God.

Beche died in faith, hope, and at peace with the Lord. May we who mourn his lost find this faith, hope, and peace at our most difficult moments.

Left to cherish his memories are his daughter – Peyton Riley Gibson; his parents: Dennis and Avis Gibson; sisters: Sherece, Jeannie and Elveta Gibson; aunts: Helen Thompson and family, Betty Thompson-Moss and family, Cleomie Burrows and family, Vernice Dorsett and family. Uncles: Freddie Thompson and family, Leonard and Michael Gibson and family.
