Jesse "Ray" McClain, 75, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 3, 2020. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida where he has remained with his childhood sweetheart Linda, his wonderful and amazing soul mate and wife of 56 years.

Ray is preceded in death by his parents: Reginald (Tip) and Bert McClain, 2 brothers, Reginald  and Walter (Buddy) McClain and his son, Randy Keith McClain: He is survived by his wife, Linda McClain, 1 child; Tina (Butch) Childers: 3 grandchildren; Jessica (Mark) Emmel, Coleman Childers and Chloe Childers; 1 great grandchild: Brayden Emmel. 2 brother- in- laws, whom he considered more of brothers, Bubba Crawford and David Crawford; Sister-in-law, Peggy Jones, whom he considered more of a sister; many nieces and nephews whom considered more of a father figure than an uncle; many close and dear friends and neighbors whom were more like family. Family and friends meant the world to Ray. He was the best husband, dad, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend anyone could ever have.

One of Ray’s passions was spending time outdoors with his wonderful wife Linda, family, neighbors and friends. His favorite activities were fishing and shrimping from his dock, spending time with his grandkids and getting to know his first great grandson, hosting fish fry’s, oyster roasts and many other types of gatherings. He worked tirelessly to make sure everyone always had an amazing time and plenty of good food to eat and drink! He left everyone waiting for the next time to gather and fellowship together again.

Ray had an infectious laugh and wonderful smile. He was always smiling and bringing joy, laughter and comfort to everyone around him no matter what the circumstances were. He had a way of bringing humor to any situation especially in time of sadness or sorrow. He had an uncanny way of making you turn a crying tear into a laughing tear. He used his laughter and smile to bring you comfort and joy. Ray was most known for his unwaveringly and kindness and willingness to help anyone in need. There was never a project too big or too small that needed to be done with neighbors or family that he was not involved in. Everyone that knew him, was aware that his talents were vast, his love for others ran deep and he could always fix anything someway. He will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure to have known him.  As a great and wise woman, his wife, once said, “No one is perfect, but he is darn close to it”. Enough said…

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at The Event Center at Peeples, 14165 N. Main Street (Building C) with Rev. Chris Coram.
