Jerry Crigler, 78 of Paris, passed away at his son’s home on Saturday evening, July 13, 2019.
He was born on December 31, 1940 in Monroe County, the son of Wilson L. and Jennie Lou Willier Crigler. He graduated from Paris High School in 1957. Jerry married Elizabeth (Betty Ann) Hinze on October 22, 1960 in Mexico, MO and she preceded him in death on July 9, 1983. On April 21, 1984 he married Margaret Workman and she preceded him in death on May 17, 2003. Survivors include one son, Brian (Carol) Crigler; three grandchildren, Kyle and Hope DeOrnellas, Zane Crigler and Cameron Hunter and Bret Crigler; one great-granddaughter, Bella Mann; one sister, Judy (Joe) Stoeklein and several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by an infant grandson, Warren Crigler and one sister Joyce Sue Milhollin.
Jerry farmed in the Paris area for many years. After retiring from the City of Paris, he stayed busy by working at Hickman’s IGA and Monroe Manor Nursing Home.
One of his greatest joys was listening to Kyle and Zane’s police stories and hearing about Bret’s shooting competition. He was known for his kindness, helping others, and giving blood to those in need. Jerry, also, had a passion for gardening and watching Purple Martins. He was a member of the Paris Presbyterian Church.
Funeral service will be Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m. at Agnew Funeral Home with Reverend John Grimmett officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
