James Edward Tarr of Columbus, Kansas passed away October 31, 2018 at his home.
James was born to Floyd Fane and Hallie Myrtle (Jarvis) Tarr May 22, 1932 in Cherokee County, Kansas. He graduated high school in Columbus with the class of 1950, later working as a Circulation Distributor for the San Fransisco Chronicle and also The McKlatchie Newspaper, both in California. He served our country in the Army. In 1998 James came back to the Columbus area. He was a member of the American Legion Post 3 in Columbus, and enjoyed traveling.
Surviving James are one sister June Wilcox of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and June’s son Brad Atkinson.
He was preceded in death by her sister Zena Cook (husband James), and sister Martha Lou Headley, in addition to their parents.
Funeral services are being handled by Derfelt Funeral Home of Columbus, Kansas, and will be held Monday, November 6, 2018 , 2:00 PM at the chapel. The family will receive friends before the funeral from 1:00-2:00 PM. Burial will be at Park Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Columbus, Kansas.
