James Raymond Willett passed away peacefully on Monday, September 3, 2018, at his home surrounded by his family in Charlevoix, MI.
James was born October 12, 1928 in Detroit, MI, to Coy and Agnes Willett. He lived in Detroit until his family moved to Mio, Michigan in 1944, where he lived until he & his wife retired and moved to Curtis, Michigan in the UP in 2001. James was a veteran of the Korean War, after graduating from Mio High School. His passions were woodworking, fishing, and hiking in the Porcupine Mountains.
James married Roberta Sherwood on February 6, 1954. She survives him, along with 2 sons: Gregg (Tina) Willett of California; and Mark (Leslie) Willett of Charlevoix, MI; 5 grandchildren: Gregg, Jr., Erin, Kurtis, Eric, and Kendra; and 7 great-grandchildren: Alayna, Jillian, Kyle, Kaden & Phoenix; Cali & Hudson. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Jerry, and his sister Mary.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be scheduled in the future.
