Helen's Obituary

Helen Roberts, age 87, passed away May 13, 2020, at Beacon Hill in Lombard, Illinois.  She was born April 16, 1933 in New York.

Helen grew up in Valley Stream, Long Island with her sister Anne, and parents Henry and Edna Roberts.  They grew up enjoying horseback riding, going to the beach as well as other outdoor activities.  Helen went to secretarial school in New York City where she met her future husband Joe Focazio.  Joe and Helen had four kids and lived in New York, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio Missouri, Texas and finally Miami Florida.  She worked in the Clinical Psychology department at the University of Miami and received her College Degree, at age 44.  She was a Stephen Minister becoming an Assistant Director for Stephen Ministries in and around the Daytona Beach area. Helen had a passion for golf and taught all her children the game.  Helen loved tennis and played on a travel team for many years.  Helen was an avid reader, had a passion for knitting, loved travel and enjoyed good food her entire life. 

She is survived by her children: Ken (Maryann) Focazio of Cleveland OH, Laura (Frank) Javech of Winfield, IL, Steve Focazio of New Smyrna Beach, FL and Dan (Cheryl) Focazio of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Also survived by her grandchildren Samantha Jensen and Ryan Javech; Matt, and Brian Focazio; and Kasey and Kelly Focazio.  Also survived by great-grandchildren, Kinsley and Frankie Jensen. She was preceded in death by Joseph Focazio.

Because she believed in Jesus Christ, we are comforted with the assurance that we will see her again.

A memorial service will be held Friday, July 17, 2020 at 4:30 p.m. at Wheaton Bible Church, 27W500 North Ave., West Chicago, Illinois 60185.

The Family requests in lieu of flowers a donation to Peace Hospice and Palliative Care, 1717 N Naper Blvd, Naperville Il 60563.
