She had met Donald at a dance and they dated for five years. On May 24, 1959 Delores and Donald were united in marriage at the Methodist Church in Wessington Springs, South Dakota.
They were blessed with three children: Merle, Eileen, and Larry. Delores and Donald celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2009.
Delores learned at an early age to do whatever had to be done on her parent’s farm. Later being a farm wife, helping her husband milking cows, feeding little pigs, pet calves, raising chickens and butchering them.
She had a busy life cooking, baking, gardening and canning her vegetables, especially dill pickles for the grandchildren. She enjoyed visiting and reminiscing over photographs and having over thirty scrapbooks of her family.
Delores had a spunky personality and family always knew what she was thinking. Her favorite quote was, “If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all”. She kept an interesting diary every day for over forty years, and could recite names and birthdays of her family, relatives, friends and children she taught.

Her husband died November 26, 2011 and she continued to live on the farm with her son Larry. She and Larry moved to town in the summer of 2015. She enjoyed going to the library and going up town and visiting with people.
