August 24, 1956 - September 17, 2020
David Carroll Harris, 64, of Callahan, Florida is finally at rest in his eternal home, wrapped in the arms of his Lord and Savior following a long and extremely difficult battle with cancer.
He was born in Jacksonville on August 24, 1956 and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School – Class of 1974. David enjoyed a lifelong illustrious career with Flowers Baking Company. His work ethic was second to none and his 45 years of loyalty and dedication to the company were unparalleled and further proof that David was never one to give up on anything.
His greatest joys in life were his family and he took great pride in his children and grandchildren. He loved hunting and golf, dancing with his wife, watching all kinds of sports; but the times spent laboring in his yard were some of the most rewarding. He never met a flower he did not like.
His father, Eddie Harris, Sr. preceded him in death and surviving family include his wife, Kelley Carnes Harris; 2 children: Melissa Harris and Justin Braddock; 3 grandchildren: Dylan, Dawson and Reese; mother, Bobbie Harris; 1 sister: Linda (David) McDugald; 2 brothers: Eddie (Karen) Harris, Jr. and Robert Harris; extended family: Terry Harris, Scott (Pam) Carnes, Tracey (Kenny) Gallant, Kristi Carnes, Haul & Loretta Carnes, a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at Peeples Event Center, 14165 N. Main Street, with Pastor Roger Stark, officiating.
His family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM prior to the service.
