Clarence E. Hill, age 90, a longtime resident of Winfield, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 5, 2020, at DuPage Care Center in Wheaton, Illinois. He was born June 23, 1929 in Jessup, Georgia to Clifford and Viola Hill.
Clarence grew up in Chicago and graduated from Amundson High School. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea and then graduated from John Brown University. On September 1, 1956 he married Willa Mae Andrie in Sebring, Ohio. They lived in Romeoville until moving to Winfield in 1969. Mr. Hill worked his entire career at Good News Publishing. In retirement, he and Willa traveled extensively. Family was important and they often traveled to see family. He enjoyed studying the history of places they visited and he was an avid bike rider, bringing his bike with as they traveled.
His Christian Faith was central to his life and he was a member of the Faith Baptist Church of Winfield, where he served as a deacon and was active in the construction of the original church building.
He is survived by his wife, Willa Mae, his three children, Keith (Betty) Hill of St. Charles, JoAnn Hill of Winfield, and Eric (Beth) Hill of Danville, PA, two step-granddaughters, 2 step-great-granddaughters, and his sister, Eleanor Kendall. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Hazel Cummings.
Services and interment will be held privately, and a public memorial service may be held at a later date.
