Mrs. Betty Jo Bishop Godwin, 76, receiving her angel wings on Friday morning, October 30, 2020.
She was born in Cedar Key, Florida on January 25, 1944 and was raised by her mother and grandmother. In 2002, she retired with 45 years service as a Supervisor at Shaw’s Southern Belle Frozen Food. For the next 4 years, she worked at Publix on Duval Station Road in the Seafood Department. Betty was an active and dedicated church member and current membership at Restoration Baptist Church and former memberships at Grace Baptist Church and Heavenly Heights Baptist Church. She was known for having a clean house and up until last year, kept her house spotless. Betty always attended the sporting events for her 3 boys.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Claude R. Godwin, Sr. in 2004 and her son, Robbie Godwin in 2016.
Surviving family include 2 sons: Claude R. “Ray” Godwin, Jr., (fiancé Debbie Hill) and Kevin Godwin (Angie); 1 sister: Delores Solomon (Gene); ½ sister: Alice O’Brien; 6 grandchildren: Josh, Paige, Victor, Alyssa, Devan and Brandon; 3 great grandchildren: Jensen, Payton and Maverick; 1 daughter-in-law: Sirena Godwin Lee and a host of church family.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at Restoration Baptist Church, 9714 Ridge Blvd. with Rev. Doyle Harper, officiating.
Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park.
Her family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at Peeples Event Center, 14165 N. Main Street.
