Allan "Butch"'s Obituary

Allan Ray “Butch” Jones, retired part-owner of Associated Printing Professionals in Bossier City, age 80, passed away peacefully at Overton Brooks VA Medical Center on Sunday, January 6, 2019.  Allan was born in Minden, Louisiana on June 29, 1938, to Voice Allan Jones and Eva B Johnson Jones.  He lived in Caddo and Bossier parishes throughout his life.  He graduated from C.E. Byrd High School in 1957 and entered into the Army shortly thereafter serving three years in Germany.

Butch loved hunting and fishing for all species with his lifelong friend, Bobby Patterson.  As the bass tournament sport came into being in the 1970’s, he joined the Northwest Louisiana Bass Club.  He was elected Secretary/Treasurer of District 1 Association of Louisiana Bass Clubs {ALBC} serving in this office for twenty years.  He successfully participated in many local and state level tournaments.  He loved the sport and competed in team events until 2017.

Butch was a member of Belle Park Baptist Church in Haughton and a devoted member of the Men’s Breakfast Group enjoying a special fellowship with his good friend, Larry Farmer.

He is survived by the following family:  brother, Harry L. Jones and wife, Melba; nephew James Allan Jones and wife, Laurie; niece Olivia H. Jones and her son, Jackson Allan Turner; also step-daughter, Tammy Edrington and late husband Andrew; step-son Gordon Dyck and wife Tania Greenwood, four grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Jester Jones. 

His family would like to extend a special thanks to Northwest Louisiana Veterans Home and the ICU staff at Overton Brooks VA Medical Center for their individualized care they provided in his time of need.
