On November 24, 2020 Shirley Jean Rode, loving mother, nana and great nana (granny) went home to be with her Lord and Savior. Shirley was born in Harrisburg, Pa to Clarence and Della Snyder.
She had two daughters, Diane (Paul) Kinsinger and Karen (Van) Clampitt, 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She loved her family dearly and was involved in all the activities her grandchildren and great grandchildren participated in.
Shirley retired as a secretary from Central Dauphin East High School. She loved her time working with the staff and students.
Shirley loved to spend time with the family and time in the kitchen cooking. She hosted holidays in her home up until her passing where she cooked enough food to feed an army. She loved the Lord and was very involved with her church. There she helped serve a missionary breakfast the first Saturday of every month. She was committed to sharing God’s love and His word to everyone she came in contact with. Her greatest prayer was that her family would all be believers so one day we could all be reunited in heaven with her.
Shirley also developed many new and wonderful relationship with her dialysis center nurses, doctors, patients and all her caretakers on the 4th floor of Community General Hospital. Her family was so grateful for all their loving care.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 11, 2020 at 11 A.M. at New Love in Christ Church, 6003 Jonestown Rd., Harrisburg. Pastor Ross Reider will be officiating. Burial will be in Shoops Garden of Rest Cemetery.
A Visitation will be held on Friday from 10:30 to 11 A.M. at the church, prior to the service.
Arrangements are by the Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Harrisburg.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Bethesda Mission, 611 Reily St., Harrisburg, Pa. 17102.
