Lebanon, NH - Antoaneta Lilova, 67, passed away at Mt. Ascutney Hospital, Windsor, VT on January 25th 2020 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Bulgaria where she married George Lilov and they had two children, Iliana and Asparouh. From a young age, Antoaneta loved learning and science. She received her PhD in Chemistry, having done the experimental work for her thesis at the Max Planck Institute, Germany after receiving a Humboldt fellowship. She worked at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, at INSERM, France, and at DSM Biologics, Canada, after relocating to Montreal with her family in 1996. Since 2006 Antoaneta had been living and working in the Upper Valley, most recently for Novo Nordisk as Principal Scientist.
Antoaneta loved chemistry and loved her profession. She was always thirsty for knowledge, endeavored to perfect herself as a scientist and a person, and made meaningful contributions to her field. The numerous countries she worked in are a testament to her determination to excel.
Antoaneta leaves her loving family: husband George, daughter Iliana, and son Asparouh, as well as many colleagues and friends.
She will be remembered as a dedicated and loving mother and wife, a hardworking scientist and a person who never gave up and fought until the end. She will also be remembered for her delicious home cooking, for her love of Andrea Boccelli’s music, knitting, sewing, crafts and art, gemstones, and learning about their chemical composition, and all things beautiful.
Family and friends are invited to Antoaneta’s memorial on Saturday February 15th 2020 at the Ricker Funeral Home from 2 to 4pm.
