Douglass Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home

Edward "Ted" J. Chisholm

( March 29, 1966 - February 09, 2019 )

Edward “Ted” Chisholm, originally from Reading, MA, passed away in his sleep on February 9, after a lengthy illness at 52 years old.  Most recently a resident of Stratford, CT, Ted also lived in New Orleans, LA, Chicago, IL, Jacksonville, FL, and Almaty, Kazakhstan over the last two decades.  In Kazakhstan, Ted served as a Peace Corps Volunteer and learned Russian.  A graduate of Reading Memorial High School (1984), Assumption College (1988), and Rutgers University (2006), Ted worked as a librarian.

He was an avid sports fan and traveled extensively in the US to attend professional hockey and baseball games.  His time in Jacksonville and New Orleans converted him (unfortunately) into an SEC football and baseball fan as well.  Ted also volunteered as an English instructor for newly-arrived immigrants and had a passion for studying world history and literature.

Ted leaves behind his parents Ed and Norma of Reading, his brothers Don and Paul, four nephews, and a niece.

A funeral service celebrating Ted’s life will be held on Friday, February 15 at 1:00pm at the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.) in Reading.  A visitation will be held prior to the funeral from12:00-1:00pm.  Burial is private.

In lieu of flowers, Ted’s family requests that you consider making a donation to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, 3803 North Fairfax Drive, Suite 100, Arlington, VA 22203.
