Francis J. “Frank” Dee of Reading died at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston on October 4, 2014 after a brief illness. He was 65 years of age. Frank was born Winchester, Massachusetts on August 29, 1949, the son of the late William H. Dee, Jr. and Margaret M. (Dunn) Dee. Frank grew up in Reading and graduated from Austin Preparatory School class of 1967.He ran track for Austin Prep and was recently inducted into the Austin Preparatory Athletic Hall of Fame. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Villanova graduating in 1972. He did Graduate Studies in Theology at Washington Theological Union in Silver Spring, Maryland from 1972-1975. He received a Master of Science Degree in Special Education at Manhattan College in Riverdale, New York in 1981. Frank began his teaching career in the South Bronx teaching special education. He then became a teacher for the Lynn School System in 1990 and retired in 2013. He then worked for the Winchester School System as a substitute teacher at the Lynch School. Frank moved back to Reading in 1994 and became an active member of St. Agnes Church where he regularly played the drums for the Family Liturgy Mass on Sundays. He was passionate about music and loved jazz. Frank was the beloved husband of Janet Davidson-Dee. Devoted father of Elizabeth X. Dee of Reading and the late Emily F. Dee. Cherished brother of Vicki Davidson and her husband George of Concord, William H. Dee III and his fiancé Joanne Sullivan of Lynnfield and Edward G. Dee and his wife Janet of Reading and the late Catherine J. Dee. Loving son in-law of Betty Davidson of Reading and loving uncle of 15 nieces and nephews. His funeral will be held from the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.) Reading on Wednesday, October 8 at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Agnes Church 186 Woburn St. Reading at 10:30 am. Burial to follow at Forest Glen Cemetery, Reading. Funeral home visiting hours will be Tuesday from 4-8 pm.
