About a month before his 15th birthday, Thomas got a job working for Abercrombie and Patterson, a funeral home in Forest Park(Clayton County). That was June 1958, and ever since then, for 50 years now, Thomas has been directing funerals. In the 1970's he built Parkway Garden Chapel and in 1987 bought and managed Tara Garden Chapel. He is no longer affiliated with Parkway or Tara. Over the years Thomas kept up with the modern developments, while resisting, at the same time, the corporate forces that emphasized money over service and reputation. Thomas wanted to get back to operating his own funeral home with emphasis on genuine customer service with personal and professional care. We offer service beyond expectation. Thomas L. Scroggs Funeral Directors was opened in August 2004 by Thomas & Linda Scroggs with the principles of respect and compassion for all the families we serve. After several years managing corporate-owned firms, Thomas was proud to once again have a family owned and operated establishment. We are carrying on the tradition with three generations involved in the business. Thomas passed away in June of 2014 leaving behind a legacy that we will carry out in his honor.
WHY CHOOSE FAMILY OWNED?
Why choose "family owned"?
The Advantages of Working With a Family-Owned Funeral Home
When it comes to choosing the right funeral home for your loved one, a lot of factors come into play. We here at Thomas L. Scroggs Funeral Directors feel that the decision should never be taken lightly and know that it is not easy. We also think that, as a family-owned and operated funeral home, we are perfectly suited to offer a personal touch. Choosing a family-owned funeral home is one of the best decisions you can make when it comes to properly honoring your friends and family that have passed away. The advantages speak for themselves. Furthermore, with a family-owned home you can be assured that you will be met by compassionate and professional staff and directors that have your best interests at heart.
Our ability to add a personal touch to every service is one that cannot easily be matched at a corporate owned, large, and often impersonal funeral home. Our employees are our friends and family, which means that we work together and do not approach the job with a cookie-cutter approach. You are not a number and should not be treated as such. We take both yours and our individuality seriously, doing everything we can to make your experience as unique as you are and as trouble free as possible. A funeral should not be an onerous occasion. It should also be full of warmth and well-wishes, not rigid employees without an active interest in the future of a faceless employer. With a family-owned funeral home you will always be in good hands.
In addition to being infinitely capable of providing that personal touch to everything we do, a family-owned funeral home takes family seriously. This adds a sense of pride and responsibility to everything we do. The fact that we are a family allows us to give you the very best service. We are perfectly tuned to each other and are able to integrate all aspects of a funeral service into the experience you deserve. We spend a lot of time together and get along famously. Most homes get you in and out, but we try our best to take the time needed to assure you feel at peace with your decision to use our services. After the loss of a loved one, the compassion and empathy found in a family-owned home is second to none.
Historically, funeral services have been provided by generations of local families who have deep roots in their community. When dealing with such an important event, turning to a funeral director whom you know and trust can make a world of difference. A family-owned firm will give you the personal attention and caring that you deserve, and the extra support that you will need after the funeral is over. You will also receive the outstanding professionalism that only generations of service can cultivate.
