Per Governor Tate Reeves Executive Order, we are restricted to 10 people attending an indoor gathering and 50 people attending outdoor gatherings. State Health Officer Dr. Thomas Dobbs has sent recommendations to Mississippi funeral home facilities recommending only close family should attend funeral services and these services should be preferably conducted outdoors. Also, per the Executive Order and a City of Columbus ordinance requires everyone attending a visitation or service to wear a mask. Masks must be worn properly at all times to cover nose and mouth. Lowndes Funeral Home does not provide masks to individuals attending services.
If you have tested positive or show symptoms of COVID-19, you should NOT attend any services and should remain quarantined at home as recommended by your doctor and other regulating agencies.
We have been in contact with the National Funeral Directors Association and the Center for Disease Control and have received guidance on how to conduct visitation and funeral services as well as handling and care of infected deceased individuals amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Currently, we will be following the ordinances and recommendations given to us to best protect our families and community from the outbreak as best as we can. All families will have the option to “opt-in” to web streaming services and a link will be published to the online obituary on our website at www.lowndesfuneralhome.net with the family’s permission.
During this time we ask that you stay safe and remain in prayer for our nation and our world during this pandemic.
