Celebration of life services will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2015, 1:00 p.m., at the True Faith Baptist Church, 1005 Eutaw Road, Eutawville, South Carolina. The Reverend C. L. Coleman, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in the church's cemetery. Viewing will be from 1:00 until 8:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Deaconess Clary Green was born on February 20, 1942 to the late Harry and Hattie Clemons in Holly Hill, South Carolina. She departed this life on Friday, April 3, 2015, at Methodist Oaks in Orangeburg, South Carolina.
She grew up and received her education in the public schools of Holly Hill, South Carolina.
She met and married her husband, Joe Green, Sr. of 56 years, on May 25, 1958. From this union, eight children were born. Two preceded her in death: Rose Mary and Dianne Green.
Deaconess Green was an active member of True Faith Baptist Church until her health failed. She served as a Deaconess, on the Senior Choir, Pastor’s Aide Board, and Missionary Board.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister, friend and to all that crossed her path. Deaconess Clary sacrificed a lot so that others could have. She would share her resources to make sure that others were taken care of. To the children in the community, she was known as Grandma Clary.
Left to cherish her fond memories are her loving husband; six children: Catherine (Joe) Hatcher, of Atlanta, Georgia, Richard (Margaret) Green, of Albany, New York, Rev. Joe (Bridget) Green Jr., of Vance, South Carolina, Kenneth Green, Mary Ann Green, and Tyrone Green, of Holly Hill, South Carolina; her adoptive mother, Mary Mack, of Holly Hill, SC; four sisters, Maytha (Charles) Green, of Holly Hill, SC, Rosa Ann Banks, Shirley Mae Banks, and Ruthie Mae Banks, of Miami, Florida; one brother, Jack Banks, of Atlanta, Georgia; five sisters-in-law, Rosa Lee Scott, Lillian Green, Ethel Mae Wise, and Ida Mae (John) Tucker, of Gadsden, South Carolina and Mary (Joe) Bush, of Long Island, New York; four brothers-in-law, Sammie Lee (Ida) Green, David Green, and James Green, of Gadsden, SC, and John Johnson, of Eastover, SC. She also leaves seventeen grandchildren, thirty great- grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
