E. Clarbel “Toddie” Hoyt, 96, formerly of Gould St., Corry, Pa., died on Monday, July 28, 2014, at the Corry Manor.
She was born on January 20, 1918, in Portage, Pa., a daughter of the late James H. and Florence Towle Eicher.
Toddie was raised and educated in Johnstown, Pa., graduating from Johnstown Senior High School in 1935. Following high school, she worked at McCrory’s 5 & 10 Store in Johnstown until her marriage. She and her husband lived in several locations until they settled in Corry in 1941. For several years, they owned and operated the Esso Hall Restaurant on Smith Street. Toddie then worked as a clerk for Paul’s Mens Wear and retired from there in the late 1970s, after many years of service.
She was a member of Evangelical United Methodist Church, Corry, Pa., and was also a member of the Corry Memorial Hospital Ladies’ Auxiliary and the American Red Cross. Toddie enjoyed traveling and collecting china tea cups.
In addition to her parents, Toddie was preceded in death on February 21, 2013, by her husband, Gerald I. Hoyt, whom she married September 4, 1938, in Johnstown, Pa.; a sister, Elda Truby and a brother, Elvin Eicher.
Toddie is survived by several nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation.
Services will be held privately by her family.
Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Corry, Pa.
