John William Fawcett, age 46, a resident of Winfield, died Tuesday, May 27, at home. He was born October 21, 1961 in Ft. Worth, TX.

John was a faculty member at Wheaton College as the Head of Collection Development at Buswell Library. He was also Pastoral Musician for over 15 years at Church of the Resurrection in Glen Ellyn. He served with Pastoral Care Ministries and Redeemed Lives Ministries as worship leader, teacher and healing prayer minister. John held a Master's degree in Theology from Wheaton College, and a Master's degree in Librarianship from the University of Chicago. Combining his love of language and his delight in scholarship, John pursued with vigor the perfect pun and conversation as sport. He embraced running and cycling, especially on insufferably hot, summer days. He was known as a food and opera connoisseur. But above all, he deeply cherished his family and the Lord Jesus Christ.

He is survived by his wife of seven years, Margie; two children, Charlotte and Josiah; his parents, the Rev. Bill and Mary Fawcett of Sao Paulo, Brazil; four brothers and sisters, Katherine (Stewart) Ruch of West Chicago, IL, Walter Fawcett of Sao Paulo, Brazil, Nathanael (Julie) Fawcett of Sao Paulo, Brazil and Julia (Jeff) Schumacher of North Canton, OH; and 16 nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Friday, May 30, from 3-9 P.M. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 31, at 10:00 A.M. at Church of the Resurrection (Glen Ellyn) which meets at Glenbard West High School, 670 Crescent Blvd., in Glen Ellyn. Childcare will be provided. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery in Winfield.

An informal evening worship service will be held on the Wheaton College campus on Sunday, June 1, at 7:00 P.M. at Pierce Memorial Chapel, 433 N. Washington St., in Wheaton. All who attend will have an opportunity to share and celebrate John's life.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to the John Fawcett Memorial Fund, c/o 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL 60187.
