Pastor Phillip Arthur Lilly, age 76, of Beckley, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday June 26, 2012, at the Charleston Area Medical Center Memorial Division following a sudden illness.

Born Oct. 27, 1935, at Sand Knob, W.Va., he was the son of the late Charles Wilson Lilly and Dessie Hamm Lilly, and was the stepson of Orah Hamm Lilly.

Pastor Lilly was a former machinist before entering the full time ministry. He was a former pastor of the Big Creek Baptist Church, Four Mile Baptist Church, Maple Valley Baptist Church, Raleigh Community Church, Stanaford Missionary Baptist Church, Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, and was presently the pastor of the Grace Community Church at Lanark. Pastor Lilly was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and had made his home in the Beckley area since 1977, having previously resided at Jumping Branch.

In addition to his parents, Pastor Lilly was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Lilly; by an infant brother; by stepbrothers, Donald Hamm and Rev. Darrell Hamm; and a stepsister, Faye Hamm.

Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his wife of 57 years, Velma Meadows Lilly.

Three children, Gary Arthur Lilly and his wife Rebecca of Scott Depot, W.Va., Dennis Lee Lilly and his wife Terri of Rock, W.Va., and Brenda Susie Lynam and her husband Larry Van Lynam of Youngsville, N.C.

Grandchildren, Marshall Lilly, Evan Lilly, Stacey Lilly, Brooklyn Lynam, Layne Lynam, Wesley Lilly, Kristin Lilly, and Tavis Lilly.

A great-grandchild, Shyanne Lilly.

A half brother, Billy Joe Lilly and his wife Gwen of Nimitz, W.Va.; stepbrothers, Elsie Hamm and his wife Ruth of Texas, Mack Hamm and his wife Rosella of Beckley and Frank Hamm and his wife Ruby of Missouri.

Sisters, Jacqueline McGuire of Shady Spring, W.Va., Lorene Tyree of Nimitz, Shelby Jean Warden and her husband Gerald of Nimitz, and Geraldine Meadows and her husband Bobby of Slab Fork, W.Va.

Step sisters, Virginia Wills and her husband Clarence of Madams Creek, W.Va., Myrtle Harvey of Forest Hill, W.Va., Mae Hurt and her husband Vernon of Texas, Mildred Messer and her husband Curt of Hinton, W.Va.

Numerous nieces and nephews are also among his survivors.

Funeral services will be conducted to Honor The Life Of Pastor Phillip A. Lilly on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Stanaford Missionary Baptist Church, Stanaford, W.Va., with Pastor Rodney Allen officiating, with speakers Rev. Everette Meadows, and his best friend Rev. Joe Bolen. Burial will follow at the Lilly and Crews Cemetery at Nimitz.

Friends may call at the church from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, and also one hour prior to the services on Saturday.

Pallbearers will be nephews Larry and David Lilly, Roy Meadows, and Rev. Junior Hamm, and friends Larry Cantley and John Farrish. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Lane, Johnny McGhee, Sam Suttle, John Farrish, Russell Harris, and James Fox. Vocalists for the service will be Sue Cantley and Martha Goble.
