June 11, 1989 - April 28, 2012
Sherrod, James Ray, Jr. (Age 22) of Washington, D.C.
James Ray Sherrod entered Eternal Life on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at Prince Georges Hospital Center in Cheverly, Maryland at the age of 22 years and is now with God in heaven above.
James accepted Christ and became a member of Fort Foote Baptist Church on February 9, 1997 where he was an active member of the Youth ministry and sang with the Vessels of Praise choir for many years.
James attended Kingsford Elementary School, Drew Freeman Middle School and Charles Flowers High School. As a youth, he loved playing soccer, basketball and football for the Kettering Boys and Girls Club. In 2007, he graduated from Freestate Challenge Academy, located in Aberdeen, Maryland.
James enjoyed his extensive rap music collection, and fishing and camping trips with his Dad. He was a diehard Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Bulls fan and an engaging participant of Facebook and Twitter.
James had a “beautiful warm smile” (he was known for skipping down the street with a smile as wide as the sky). He was a free spirited young man, to know him was to love him. His love for people was demonstrated in the way he gave out hugs and comforted those in his own special way. James was also a jokester. He had a way to make even the sternest person burst into laughter.
All who knew him will miss that great big smile and warm greeting. His comforting and bubbly personality, which he portrayed throughout his life will be sorely missed.
James loved his family and friends immensely. He was a GREAT big brother to his siblings.
He leaves to cherish his memories; his parents, James and Kassandra Sherrod and Theresa Richardson, brother, Tre` Richardson, sisters, Imari Richardson and Jade Sherrod, grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, Godparents, God siblings, and many relatives and friends.
His Viewing will be held from 10:00am until time of Service, 11:00am on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at Fort Foote Baptist Church, 8310 Fort Foote Road, Fort Washington, Maryland 20744. Interment, Fort Lincoln Cemetery, 3401 Bladensburg Road, Brentwood, Maryland 20722.
