John Joseph Polewczak, 90, of Cross, SC, a retired construction superintendent, died Saturday at his residence.
His memorial service will be 3:00 PM Saturday afternoon, February 12, 2011, in the CHAPEL OF DIAL-MURRAY FUNERAL HOME, MONCKS CORNER. Interment will follow in Berkeley Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 PM until the hour of service on SATURDAY.
Mr. Polewczak was born August 30, 1920, in Newark, NJ, a son of Joseph Polewczak and Catherine Polewczak. He was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Holly Hill where he served as a Eucharistic minister, and he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 246. Mr. Polewczak enjoyed spending time on his computers. He was preceded in death by a son, Rev. Michael Polewczak, and two grandsons, Mark Root and Gerald Griffin, Jr. He was the widower of Mary Ancmon Polewczak.
Surviving are, two daughters, Catherine Griffin and Barbara Root both of Cross; two sons, James Polewczak of Gansevoort, NY, and John Polewczak of San Luis Obispo, CA; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
