Andrew D’Alessandro Jr., age 89, of Maywood, IL, passed away on November 9, 2016 in Longwood, FL.
He was born and educated in Chicago. Andrew attended Illinois Institute of Technology and
started a career as a mechanical engineer. Andrew met his wife, Jennie, through family.
They were married for 66 years before Jennie's death in 2015.
The couple raised 3 children in the Chicago area. Andrew was very active in St. Monica's Parish,
serving as an usher for many years and as President of the Men's Club. His career was started at
International Harvester and eventually he became a founding member of a consulting business.
He also held several patents in the area of hydraulics. Andrew retired over 25 years ago.
Hobbies included bowling, golf and calling bingo for about 15 years in Chicago.
In 2013, Andrew and Jennie moved to Florida to be with son, Don, and his wife, Fran. They
could be found almost every day in the local mall, Andrew pushing Jennie in her wheelchair.
In the few years they were in Florida, the couple attended Annunciation with son, Don and Fran.
It was Andrew's wish to have Jennie's cremains buried with him and his family is carrying
out all of his final wishes.
Andrew was preceded in death by his beloved wife Jennie in 2015 and one grandchild; loving father of Donald (Fran) of Longwood, FL, Barbara (the late Ken) Ciszczon of Schaumburg, IL and Cynthia (Michael) Manley of State College, PA; dear grandfather of nine and great-grandfather of six. Lying in State, Wednesday, Nov. 16 from 9 a.m. until time of Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Monica Church, 5136 N. Nottingham Ave., Chicago. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery.
