Florence Blumhagen, 91, Harvey, formerly of rural Drake, died Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey where she had been a resident since April of 2014.

Florence Marie Blumhagen was born March 12 , 1926 to David and Rose (Hirsch) Blumhagen in Rosenfeld Township of Sheridan County, south of Drake, ND and grew up on the family farm. She attended Rosenfeld #4 school.

Florence had a passion for sewing doll clothes, which she made for her nieces and were used by her grandnieces as well. She liked to quilt, crochet and garden. Over the years she babysat for many of the neighbor families.

Florence also had a knack for upholstery, she even upholstered the seats in her brother Herb’s 1916 Studebaker, 7 passenger Touring car which won 1st place at the National Studebaker Car Show.

Florence never had children, so her cows were very special to her. She also had a doll collection that she loved.

Florence was a member of Rosenfeld Baptist Church and later a member of the United Community Baptist Church in Anamoose. She was also a member of the North Dakota Studebaker Drivers Club.

Florence is survived by her brother, Herbert Blumhagen of Harvey; brother-in-law, David Carlson of Washburn; nieces, Linda (Art) Grochow of Wahpeton, Carol (Darrell) Torkelson of Bismarck, Tonya (Cullen) Pike of LaFayette, Il; nephews, Weston (Val) Kemper of Minot, Paul (Barb) Kemper of Fargo, Russell Carlson of Springfield, Il and David Blumhagen of Peoria, Il; as well as many grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Robert Blumhagen; sisters Freda McKay and Verna Carlson; an infant sister, Fern; an infant brother David; and nephew John Kemper.
Funeral: Saturday, February 10 at 10:30 A. M. at the United Community Baptist Church in Anamoose with burial in the Anamoose Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church. Arrangements with Bethke-Nelson Funeral Home of Drake.
