Ella Yvonne Vanzant Franklin, age 93, passed away Friday, May 11, 2018 at a local hospital.
She was born August 22, 1924 to James Houston Vanzant and Lylah Horton Vanzant in Winchester, Tennessee. She was a native of Lexie Crossroads, Tennessee and resident of Pensacola for over 60 years.
She served as a Media Specialist for Navy Point Elementary School for 35 years. She loved reading to children and watching them learn and grow.
She was a member of Leonard Street Church of Christ and a former member of Gateway Church of Christ. She was active with the ladies group at both congregations.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry Clayton Franklin, Jr.; and two daughters, Rhonda Brewer and Constance Dian Franklin.
She is survived by her daughter Ramona Mixon and son Hank Franklin (Vicki); grandchildren, Nicole Winters (Chuck), Eddie Brewer (Bevin), Brittany Yvonne Mixon, Clayton Franklin, Amber Franklin, and Natalie Sammons; eleven great-grandchildren, Tripp, Isabella, Erin, Hunter, Gabby, Fischer, Scarlett, Brooke, Forrest, Brees, and Lilly.
A graveside service will be Friday, May 18, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Bayview Memorial Park.
