Kenneth Lane “Katfish” Evans, 77, husband of Ann Martin Evans, passed away, Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at his home. Born January 23, 1940 in Marion County, KY, Ken was the son of the late C.L. Evans, Jr. and Edna Mae Lane Evans.
Ken served in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam and retired in 1995 following over 32 years as a service technician with Kentucky Utilities. He was currently in his 9th term as a member of the Lawrenceburg City Council serving a total of 17 ½ years. A former driver for the Central Kentucky Funeral Limousine Association, Ken also served as an ombudsman for the Nursing Home Ombudsman Agency of the Bluegrass. He was a member of the American Legion Post #34, life member of the VFW Post #4075, past president of Lawrenceburg Lion’s Club, and past Democratic Chairperson. He was a recipient of the highest award given to an adult, The Silver Beaver, by the Boy Scouts of America.
Along with his wife Ann, Ken is survived by his two children, Julie Ann Evans Brothers of Lexington and Kenneth Irvin Evans (Melissa Dotson) of Lawrenceburg; six grandchildren, Christopher Evans, Tyler Brothers, Ally Anne Evans, Takota Evans, Brianna Evans and Bryson Evans; six great grandchildren, Jadden, Karla, Zadie, Reagade, Connor, and Oaklee; and his sister, Susie (Eddie) Kelly of Danville. Including his parents, Ken was preceded in death by his brother Jim D. Evans.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 2nd from 1 – 4 PM followed by his memorial service at 4:00 PM at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home. Bro. Noal Cotton, Jr. will officiate the service. The U.S. Airforce will provide military honors.
Members of the Alton Christian Church Rough & Ready Senior Ministry will serve as honorary bearers.
