Died Saturday, January 5, 2019 at her residence with her daughters at her side. She was born February 25, 1932 in Tarentum, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Paul G. and Katherine E. (Kenly) Bovard. On September 3, 1955, she married James McKown Campbell in Chesternut Hill, Pennsylvania. He preceded her in death on June 19, 1982. Mrs. Campbell worked as an X-Ray and Radiation Therapy Technician in the Detroit area. With her husband, she was involved in Civil Rights, Social Justice and Public Education causes in Detroit for many years. She loved gardening, sewing, stained glass, and spending time at her cabin in Ontario. Survivors include her daughters: Kimery (Bill Fox) Campbell, Susan Campbell, and Mary "Kitty" Bryant, five grandchildren: Gaelan, Austen and Kye Campbell-Fox, Katie and Steven Bryant, sister Ruth (Ken) Inglese, brothers James (Stella) Bovard and Timothy (Hazel) Bovard, and her dog Chloe, along with numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and -nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, twin brother William Bovard, MD, brothers Kenly and Paul Bovard, sister Grace Bovard, step-mother, Dorothy D. Bovard, and son-in-law David Bay. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 1:00 PM at the Ypsilanti Freighthouse, 100 Market Place, Ypsilanti, MI 48198.
