William J. Champion
William Champion suffered a heart attack and passed away at home on January 30, 2019. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on November 12, 1952 to Howard and Cecilia Champion. He married Theresa Neau in 1978. He held a bachelor’s degree in Botany and a master’s degree in Geriatric Care, but worked primarily as a residential painter. Bill spent his life in service to God and the communities to which he belonged. He served as an active member in the Word of God Community for over 50 years, was a notable presence at Christ the King Catholic Church since its founding, and proudly belonged to the Knights of Columbus. In each of these communities and for many other local charities and schools he volunteered for anything he could do to help, ever generous and cheerful. For the past six years he has given of himself, acting with patience and gentleness as the primary caregiver for his wife, Theresa, whose battle with Alzheimer’s has progressed rapidly. In addition to his wife, Theresa, he is survived by his brothers: Richard, John, Chris, Tom, and Paul Champion and his sister, Mary Ann Logsdon. He leaves behind his children: Cathy, Michael, John, Greg, David, and Sarah, as well as 11 grandchildren.
