Charles N. "Chuck" Carter

U.S. VeteranFuneral services for Charles N. “Chuck” Carter, 70, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at the Gene Autry Baptist Church with Reverend David Colaw officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery

Chuck was born on April 5, 1940 in Llano, Texas to Curtis Felton Carter and Joyce Annette Johnson Carter and passed away on December 3, 2010 in the local hospital.

He and the former Verna B. Arnold were married on December 19, 1964 in Durant, Oklahoma and she preceded him in death on June 2, 2009. Chuck was also preceded in death by his parents.

A resident of the Ardmore and Madill area since 1960. He graduated from Llano High School, Llano, Texas in the class of 1958. He served his country in the United States Navy receiving an honorably discharge. Chuck had worked with the Chickasaw Telephone Company as an electronic engineer. He had also worked for Arbuckle Communications and retiring from Chickasaw Personal Communications where he was the General Manager. Chuck was a member of the Southern Oklahoma Ham Radio Club and the Gene Autry Baptist Church. He enjoyed electronics, gardening and wood work.

He is survived by his son, Rob Carter of Springer, OK and granddaughter, MacKenzie Carter of Springer, Oklahoma.

Pallbearers will be: Gerald Robsion, Larry Hale, Billy Barksdale, Dennis Johnson, Howard Robinson, Denny Byers, Greg Jean and Jimmy Wright. Honorary bearers will be: Charlie Brooks, Gary Johnston, Gary Simmons and Michale Haggard

In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
