Nellie M. (Bevilacqua) Barbaresi, 97, formerly of 12 Thomas St., died Sunday, August 15, 2010 in Sterling Village, Sterling, after a brief illness.
She leaves her husband of 74 years, Walter Mello Barbaresi; two daughters: Patricia James, wife of the late George B., of Lancaster, and Donna Cronin and her husband, Walter, of Warwick, RI; three sisters: Dorothy Bellucci, Natalie Silvio and Jean Farragher, all of Clinton; two grandchildren: Amy McManus and her husband, John Paterson, of Chicago, IL, and Kathryn McManus of Providence, RI; two step-grandchildren: Michael James and his wife, Cherie of Madison, NJ, and Steven James and his wife, Maria of Hillsborough, CA; two great-grandchildren: Graham & Avery Paterson of Chicago, IL; six step great-grandchildren: Lindsey, Bryan, Michael & Olivia James of Madison, NJ and Matthew & Sarah James of Hillsborough, CA; numerous nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Peter and Raymond Bevilacqua, and five sisters, Frances Panni, Chelsa Ambrosi, Josephine O’Connor, Manchina Regonini, and Pauline McLaughlin, predeceased her. Nellie also leaves behind her amazing family at Sunrise Assisted Living of Leominster.
Nellie was born in South Ashburnham, daughter of Natale and Enrica Bevilacqua, and was raised in several towns throughout Central Massachusetts. She attended local schools.
For fifteen years, she worked as Head Teller at what is now Sovereign Bank of Clinton, retiring in 1977. She previously worked at the former Bigelow Carpet Mill, Saxonville, and Federal Mold Companies.
A parishioner of St. John’s Church, Nellie was a member of the St. John’s Quilters, and the Clinton Hospital Guild.
Nellie’s funeral will be held on Thursday, August 19, 2010 from the McNally & Watson Funeral Home, 304 Church St., with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. John the Guardian of Our Lady Parish Church, 80 Union St. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour at the funeral home on Thursday morning, from 9:30-10:30 a.m., prior to the funeral Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Nellie to the Clinton Hospital Foundation, 201 Highland St., Clinton, MA 01510.
