David E. Cox, Sr., 85, a longtime resident of Pompton Plains, passed away on August 31, 2014.
David proudly served as a 1st Lt. in the US Army. He graduated from Philadelphia College of Textile and Science in Philadelphia and holds a patent for rubberized conveyer systems. His career spanned as a Textile Sales Engineer. He was very active in political activities in the community and county and served as mayor of Pequannock Twp. in the early 80's. David attended the First Reformed Church of Pompton Plains and was a member of the American Legion Post 242.
He is survived by his sister, Hazel Burke, his sons, David Cox, Jr. and his wife Patricia of Montville and Tym Cox and his wife Sonja of Ocean City; his grandchildren, Susan Lawrence and her husband Todd of Wayne, Melissa Schneider and her husband Charles of Watsontown, PA, David Cox and his wife Brett of Mt. Arlington, Tamara Cox of New York City and Tara Cox of New York City; and his great grandchildren, Madison, Alexander, Cooper and Leah. He was predeceased by his wife, Adele in 2012; his son, Robert; and his granddaughter, Rebecca Cox.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 6 at the First Reformed Church of Pompton Plains.
