Marguerite M. “Peggy” (Scahill) Watson, age 96, wife of the late Roy Watson of Beverly, died Wednesday morning, July 23, 2014. Marguerite was the daughter of the late Patrick J. and Agnes B. (Wynne) Scahill. Born and raised in Peabody she attended St. John's Elementary School and graduated from St. John’s Girls High School in the class of 1935. She had received all of her sacraments at St. John’s Church in Peabody.
Marguerite was employed in the Blue Print Department at Attwood and Morrill and continued working with Parker Brothers in the Monopoly Board Department until she started her family. After raising her daughter, Marguerite continued her career as a Medical Records Secretary at Devereux House in Marblehead and then at Salem Hospital until she retired in 1980.
In retirement, Marguerite enjoyed traveling, most especially cruising. She would spend her summers on Cape Cod for many years. She also enjoyed spending time with her daughter, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great- granddaughter.
Surviving her are her daughter Mary Judith "Judi" Talbot of Beverly, three grandchildren Steven M. Talbot, Tara M. Talbot and Troy W. Talbot and his wife Amy, all of Beverly, six great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Zachary, Devyn, Derek, Audrey and Jack Talbot, and one great-great-granddaughter Kaelyn Talbot. She also leaves many dear nieces and nephews, including Dorothy Murphy Saduikis, who was like a sister to her, and two cousins A. Jacqueline Hennessey and Mary Wynne Jones plus several cousins in Ireland. Marguerite was also the sister of the late Edward J. and Robert P. Scahill, Mary Murphy and Irene White Rossen.
Mrs. Watson’s Funeral will be held from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor. of North St.) Salem on Monday at 10:15 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. John the Baptist Church, 17 Chestnut St., Peabody at 11:00 A.M. Visiting hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Sunday from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem followed by a luncheon at the Danversport Yacht Club, Danvers.
