JANET LOUISE PRESSLER JAKOB loving wife of Douglas Jakob of 20 Circle Drive, Stonington, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family members after a courageous 18 year battle with breast cancer.
Born in Middletown, Ohio on August 12, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Carlton and Norma Pressler of Stonington.
Doug and Janet attended Grace Fellowship Free Evangelical Church of North Stonington.
Janet moved to Stonington in 1975 and was employed at the Mystic Color Lab, than by Benny’s in Groton for 17 years where she met Doug. Janet retired in 2003 and enjoyed her home, family, reading, gardening and anything related to nature. There were so many fond memories to share of the many trips around New England, especially Maine. Her most favorite trip however was to Disney World. Janet will be sadly missed by her children Greg Caskey(Debbie) of Hamilton, OH, CJ McCasky of Lexington, KY and her special step-daughters Jennifer Jakob-Spurr(Ken) and Amy Jakob.
Janet is also survived by her sister, Carolyn Imbriaco(Raymond) and her two brothers, David Pressler(Betsy) and Jim Pressler of Middletown, OH. Additional survivors include many grandchildren, great-granchildren nieces and nephews of Ohio and Connecticut.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of the L+M Cancer Center, especially Dr. Vanessa Johnson and her staff. Janet was at home with Doug during the final months under the direction of the Center for Hospice Care of SE CT.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday evening, July 25, at 6 o’clock at the Grace Fellowship Church on Rte 184, North Stonington. In lieu of flowers, Janet and Doug ask that you donate in Janet’s name to the Center for Hospice Care of SE CT, 227 Dunham St. Norwich, CT 06360.
