Bert E. Craw of Volcano, California, passed away July 17, 2014 in Jackson, California, at the age of 98. Bert was born on August 16, 1915 in Antigo, Wisconsin.
Bert's service in World War II led him to land on Omaha Beach on D-Day, serve in Patton's 3rd Army, and even fight in the Battle of the Bulge. After the war, he moved his family to California working in the logging industry until he retired in 1980. After retirement Bert enjoyed traveling, fishing, and summers at Silver Lake.
Bert was preceaded in death by his wife, Eleanor, of 51 years and granddaughter Lori Ann Craw. He is survived by his son, David Craw (Marilyn); daughter, Mary Seibert; grandson, Brian Craw (Tara); granddaughter, Amy Sheridan (John); three great-grandchildren, Jossie and Blake Craw and Devany Sheridan.
Private burial services will be held in Volcano, CA. A gathering of family and friends celebrating his memory will be at Mel's Banquet Room in Jackson on Sunday, July 27, 2014 at 12:00 P.M.
