Gladys Bugbee (Stelmack) Cawley, 85, formerly of St. Albans, VT and Schenectady, NY passed away peacefully on Wednesday May 28, 2014 in Syracuse, NY. Born in St. Albans, Vermont on May 3, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Felicia (Dennis) and Harvey Bugbee. Gladys was a graduate of Bellows Free Academy (BFA).

Gladys was retired from General Electric in Schenectady, NY after 37 years, where she was a Planning Specialist. Gladys enjoyed ceramics, gardening, bowling, and traveling in her RV. She was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary for V.F.W. Post 758 and the General Electric Women’s Club.

Gladys is survived by her loving family including her son, Robert (Lisa) Stelmack of Camillus, NY, step-son Cornell C. (Chip) Cawley of Proctor, VT, step-daughter Cheryl Cawley of Schenectady, NY, her beloved grand-daughter Courtney Stelmack of Camillus, NY, and her siblings Ila (Lawrence) Juaire of Fairfield, VT, Betty (Roland) Benoit of Swanton, VT, Richard (Judy) Bugbee of East Fairfield, VT, Arthur (Laurie) Bugbee of Berkshire, VT, and many nieces and nephews.

She was pre-deceased by her husbands Joseph T. Stelmack and Cornell C. Cawley, her sisters Janice Proper, Lorraine Gagner, and Pat Renaudette, along with her brothers Harvey Bugbee, Robert Bugbee, and Samuel Bugbee.

The family will receive guests on Tuesday, June 3 from 2 to 4 PM at Brady & Levesque Funeral Home at 86 South Main Street, St. Albans, Vermont. Gladys’ life will be celebrated with a funeral mass on Wednesday June 4 at 1:00 PM at St. Adalbert’s Church, 550 Lansing Street, Schenectady, NY, with the interment following at St. Adalbert’s Cemetery in Rotterdam, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation may be made in Gladys’ memory to Hospice of CNY, 990 7th North Street, Liverpool, NY 13088.
