U.S. VeteranHollice H. “Jack” Barrett, 85, of Lafayette, formerly of Ambia, IN. died at Waterford Place Health Campus in Kokomo, IN. 3:10 AM Saturday May 17, 2014. Mr. Barrett was born February 14, 1929 in Hendricks County, IN. to the late Hollice Chase and Jeannette Goen Barrett and was a 1947 graduate of Boswell, IN. High School. He married Margaret Lucille Grogan at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dunnington, IN. October 20, 1956 and she preceded him in death January 12, 2014. Jack served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War; was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Lafayette; a member of the Indiana Bankers Association and a member of the American Legion at Boswell. Before his retirement, Mr. Barrett was a banker with The Farmers and Merchants Bank of Boswell for 41 years. Surviving are two sons, Anthony “Tony” Barrett of Kokomo, IN.; John H. Barrett (wife Linda) of South Bend, IN.; three brothers, Joe Barrett (wife Elsie) of North Manchester, IN.; Tom Barrett of Boswell, IN.; Bill Barrett (wife Jody) of Pine Village, IN. and a sister, Stella Gillen of Brook, IN. Also surviving are six grandchildren and two great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by a brother and six sisters. Friends may call at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, 1104 Columbia St, Lafayette from 5 until 7 PM Tuesday, with a Vigil Service at 7 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Lawrence Catholic Church 10:00 AM Wednesday, Fr. Kevin Hurley officiating, with interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Dunnington with Military Rites by the American Legion of Boswell and Fowler.
