Tommie "Head" Lee Reese, Jr., 79, of Navasota, died Thursday afternoon, May 15, 2014, at College Station Medical Center.
A gathering of family and friends took place from 12:00 to 7:00 pm Friday, May 23, 2014, at Lindley-Robertson-Holt Funeral Home.
Funeral services were held 11:00 am Saturday, May 24, 2014, at Truevine Baptist Church, 1005 Nolan, in Navasota. Interment followed in Oakland Cemetery.
A luncheon was served at the church following the services.
Serving as pallbearers were Tommie Reese, II, Michael Reese, Gerald Curry, Darrell Curry, Chris Curry and Leonard Curry.
Tommie was born June 1, 1934 in Navasota to Tommy Lee and Bessie Gilbert Reese. He attended school in Navasota and received his mechanic's license from Prairie View A&M. He began his long career as an auto mechanic with Scherbel Motor Company and continued until his retirement with Bluebonnet Motors. Tommie enjoyed gardening, working on cars and antiquing. He was preceded in death by his father, his wife, Gloria Reese, step father, R.E. Curry, Sr., a son, Howard Reese and brother, Earl Curry.
Survivors include his mother, Bessie Curry of Navasota; sons, Michael Reese and wife Shamanda and Tommie L. Reese, II and wife Adriana, all of Houston; daughters, Debra Reese, Katrina Reese, Arlisa Haynes and husband Joel, all of Houston, and Regina Toliver and husband Robert of Spring; brothers, Anthony Reese of California and R.E. Curry, Jr. of Navasota; sisters, Ruth Williams and husband Hubert of Navasota, Margaret Curry and Ruby Marie Curry, both of Houston; 17 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
